Plan Stephens dessiné par Sparkman & Stephens en 1970 et construit chez Camper & Nicholsons à Gosport, ce yawl de lignes très classiques a participé à de nombreuses courses sur la côte Est des Etats-Unis, y compris la Bermuda race. Amazon a séjourné en Amérique du Nord depuis sa construction pour rejoindre l’Europe il y a deux ans seulement. Peu après avoir dessiné Amazon, Olin Stephens a conçu Sayula 2, vainqueur de la première Whitebread dont les lignes sont proches.

Amazon a été vainqueur de l’Atlantic Trophée en 2011, course au large de voiliers classiques en deux étapes de Douarnenez à Horta (Açores) et retour.

Cipango a surtout exploré la Méditerranée depuis 1966, d'abord aux mains de ses premiers propriétaires entre 1966 et 1991, ensuite basé en Corse avec son propriétaire actuel, Maurice Benzaquen. En 2003, il traverse le détroit de Gibraltar et rejoint la Bretagne. Des travaux de rénovation sont engagés pour lui redonner son lustre d'origine au chantier de l'Esclain à Nantes. Il navigue de nouveau depuis l'été 2009.

In 1957 Thomas J. Watson, Jr., passionate sailor and CEO of the computer company IBM, asked Olin Stephens to design the Samarkand ex Palawan II. Watson’s vision was to combine the speed and elegance of a regatta yacht with the comfort of a cruiser. Olin Stephens was seen as one of the most successful yacht designers of his time. Five winning AC boats were designed by him. His drafts for the Dorade and Stormy Weather are clearly part of the annals of boat design. When Watson commissioned the construction of the Samarkand with the renowned shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen near Bremen, he did so without setting a limit on the budget. Depuis sa première course MOONBEAM IV est entré dans la légende des régates les plus prestigieuses, vainqueur notamment de la King's Cup en 1920 et 1923. Acquis par le prince Rainier de Monaco en 1950, Moonbeam IV poursuit la légende en accueillant à son bord le jeune couple princier, Grace Kelly et le prince Rainier, pour leur voyage de Noces. Une superbe histoire qui se prolonge jusqu'à ce jour où Moonbeam IV, l'un des rares cotres auriques classiques entièrement d'origine, vous accueille pour les plus belles croisières et régates. La mission confiée à l'architecte Fife par Charles Phumptre JOHNSON était de créer le parfait compromis entre un yacht conçu pour croiser au large dans le plus grand confort et gagner en régate. Moonbeam IV a été, en 2009, le premier lauréat du Prix du Yacht de Tradition de l’Année, organisé par Les Echos – Série Limitée, qui met à l’honneur un voilier à partir de critères tels que la qualité de restauration, le respect de l’étiquette navale et le comportement de l’équipage. Moonbeam IV mesure 35 m hors-tout et porte 600 m2 de voiles au près, plus de 1 000 m2 au portant, pour un déplacement de 80 t.

Commandé en 1967 par un certain Sergio Rossi, alors grand administrateur du groupe Fiat, WHITE DOLPHIN est le dernier voilier construit par Vicenzo Beltrami qui disparut avant de pouvoir l'achever. Il fut terminé au prestigieux chantier San Germani dont la griffe, ligne de livet suivie de trois points jaunes, figure sur la coque. Si les chantiers Beltrami et San Germani lui ont donné le charme et le style du design italien, la carène rapide a toutes les qualités et l'allure caractéristique des plans Stephens. Et ceci au point que les connaisseurs, sur l'eau ou devant les plans écrits dans un anglais technique parfait, imaginent une lignée entre WD et le grand architecte naval... WHITE DOLPHIN porte bien ses quarante ans grâce à une restauration complète en 2001 réalisée par le précédent propriétaire.

Mise a l’eau en mai 1939 à Brême au chantier Abéking & Rasmussen quelques semaines avant la déclaration de guerre sous le nom de « Drei Schwestern » (Les 3 soeurs) en hommage aux 3 filles du propriétaire, le Dr Hendenhaim de Berlin, le bateau est néanmoins né sous une bonne étoile.
Après la guerre et du fait du partage de l'Allemagne où il avait été mis à l'abris sur un lac le bateau se retrouvera en URSS.

Après de nombreuses péripéties il sera ramené à son chantier d'origine. Remis en état il naviguera ensuite de nombreuses années et deviendra la propriété de "Tonton Hervé" à la Rochelle peu après 1972. Resté dans la famille de ce célèbre constructeur Français, le bateau sera acquis par son propriétaire actuel qui termine actuellement plusieurs années de remise en état, pour participer entre autre à la Transat Classique 2012 !

Germania Nova is a replica of the 1908 schooner "Germania", and a very careful research through original drawings and photos was followed in order to recreate the exterior design of this unique beauty.

The hull (steel), main deck and rigging have the appearance of the original racing schooner.

The wooden rig of the yacht is conventional, basically non-automated, without rolling gear but equipped with practical winch systems.

The interiors of this Schooner were brought to life by Oliver Design. A fine mixture of contemporary lines, clever solutions and space optimization blend perfectly with the classic look the owners intended to keep as faithfully as possible to the original design.

Teak floors along with hand painted ivory panels and furniture make the mahogany details and mouldings stand up in an environment where class and richness of materials combine perfectly with the updated technology, giving a yesterday´s look to this otherwise modern yacht.

Sea Lion, the 21m Abeking and Rasmussen yawl, built in 1953, Designe 1952, arrived at Southampton Yacht Services early in 2010. She was in a poor state after many years in Greece, and her new owner wanted to have her completely rejuvenated.

This summer, as Sea Lion sailed towards the Needles on her way down the Channel, she looked splendid and back in her element. With many new frames, new bronze floors and all new mahogany hull planking, a new deck and coach roof replicating the original, all new equipment and machinery, gleaming new brightwork and fittings, plus entirely new interior joinery, electrics and plumbing, she is ready to face the next 50 years.

 

A new rig by Southern Spars and new Harken deck gear enhance sailing performance and make life a little easier on deck. With such an extensive rebuild, the opportunity was taken to add some innovative new features and update her systems, and to install additional equipment and services into the hull whilst preserving her classic appearance both inside and out.
